Asset Store and Ecosystem
What marketplace, plugin, and community ecosystem each game engine has.
Unity
The largest third-party asset ecosystem of any engine here (the Unity Asset Store), offering everything from art packs to complete gameplay systems, backed by the largest overall developer community.
Unreal Engine
A large, curated marketplace (Fab, Epic’s unified marketplace) with high-quality assets and plugins, benefiting further from assets shared across Epic’s other tools like Fortnite Creative.
Godot
A smaller but fast-growing official Asset Library, community-driven since Godot itself is a community project rather than a company with a dedicated marketplace team.
GameMaker
A dedicated Marketplace for assets, extensions, and tutorials, sized appropriately for its more focused 2D-game community.
Construct
A smaller add-on and template ecosystem, focused specifically on 2D and browser-game-oriented behaviors and plugins.
CryEngine
A comparatively small marketplace and community relative to Unity or Unreal, reflecting its narrower adoption outside of Crytek’s own use.
Cocos Creator
A moderate asset and plugin ecosystem, particularly strong in the Chinese developer community where the engine sees heavy adoption.
Bevy
A young but active ecosystem of community crates (“Bevy plugins”) distributed through Rust’s own crates.io package registry rather than a dedicated asset store.
Defold
A smaller community-driven ecosystem of extensions and assets, reflecting its niche but dedicated user base.
