Platform Support
What platforms each game engine can target.
Unity
One of the broadest platform reaches of any engine: desktop, mobile (iOS/Android), all major consoles, WebGL, and VR/AR, a major reason for its popularity in mobile gaming specifically.
Unreal Engine
Broad platform support across desktop, consoles, mobile, and VR, though its heavier default fidelity and resource footprint make it comparatively less common for lightweight mobile titles.
Godot
Supports desktop, mobile, web (via WebAssembly), and consoles (through third-party porting partners rather than official first-party support), a rapidly improving but historically smaller platform footprint than Unity or Unreal.
GameMaker
Supports desktop, mobile, web, and consoles, with console export requiring the separate Enterprise subscription tier rather than being available on the base commercial license.
Construct
Primarily targets web and mobile through HTML5 export, with console support more limited than the general-purpose 3D engines in this group.
CryEngine
Supports desktop and consoles, with historically less emphasis on mobile compared to Unity or Cocos Creator.
Cocos Creator
Strong mobile and web platform support, with growing desktop and mini-game platform support (particularly for platforms like WeChat mini-games popular in China).
Bevy
Supports desktop and web (via WebAssembly) today, with console support still an early-stage, community-driven effort rather than an official, polished offering.
Defold
Supports desktop, mobile, and web, deliberately keeping a small, consistent footprint across all of them rather than chasing console support.
