Playwright
Parallelizes across multiple worker processes and browsers by default, generally regarded as one of the fastest tools in this group, with independent 2026 comparisons citing roughly a 2.5x CI cost advantage over Cypress.
Cypress
Runs tests within a single browser instance per spec file; true parallelization across machines requires the paid Cypress Cloud service (or a self-managed equivalent), a common point of comparison against Playwright’s free built-in parallelism.
Selenium
