How each cloud/hosting platform expects developers to deploy and manage infrastructure.

AWS

Traditionally the steepest learning curve of the group, managed through the AWS Console, CLI, or infrastructure-as-code tools like CloudFormation/CDK/Terraform, with power and flexibility trading off against day-one simplicity.

GCP

Generally considered more approachable than AWS, with a cleaner console and gcloud CLI, though still requiring real cloud/infrastructure knowledge to use well.

Azure

Console (the Azure Portal), CLI, and ARM/Bicep templates for infrastructure-as-code, with an experience most familiar to teams already used to Microsoft’s developer tooling.

Vercel

Close to zero-configuration for supported frameworks: connect a Git repository and every push gets a preview deployment automatically, widely regarded as one of the smoothest deploy experiences available.

Cloudflare

A CLI-first experience (wrangler) for deploying Workers, plus a dashboard, with configuration typically living in a simple wrangler.toml file rather than sprawling infrastructure-as-code.

Netlify

Git-based deploys with automatic previews for pull requests, very similar in spirit and simplicity to Vercel’s workflow.

DigitalOcean

A straightforward console and doctl CLI; App Platform offers git-push deploys similar to a PaaS, while Droplets require more manual server setup like a traditional VPS.

Render

Git-push deploys with automatic previews, infrastructure defined through a simple render.yaml file, generally praised for being easy to pick up with minimal configuration.

Fly.io

CLI-first (flyctl) with configuration in a fly.toml file; deploying feels close to “push a Dockerfile” rather than clicking through a console.

Heroku

The original git-push deploy model (git push heroku main), managed through the Heroku CLI and a simple dashboard, still one of the simplest deploy experiences even as the platform’s development has slowed.
